Specialist Post Fixing & Loss

The Post Fixing and Loss Specialist supports the Post Fixing and Loss Manager in handling all demurrage and other shipping claims that are received and incurred by the organization and working with trading, legal and finance to minimize the financial impact of these. 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Strategic

  • Manage, defend and negotiate demurrage claims payable and receivable with ship-owners and trading counterparties, always within time bar deadlines
  • Manage, defend and negotiate other shipping claims, including P&I claims where applicable
  • Develop a deep understanding of chartering and trading general terms and conditions, in particular in relation to laytime, demurrage and the shipping claims procedures and terms.
  • Co-operate closely with all other departments, especially AGT Contracts, where advice on terms relating to lay time and demurrage is required.
  • Ensure all invoices are sent, received and paid on time (for both payable and receivables)
  • Ensure no overpayment of cost claims and/or under recoveries of our account receivables.

 

Operational

  • Ensure commercial start & end dates for demurrage calculations are up to date on a daily basis
  • Monitor the daily time bar report to ensure all notices and fully documented claims are sent on time
  • Review monthly demurrage reports and coordinate closely with the AGT Shipping and Trading Operations teams to identify and recommend changes to process and or operations which would assist in reducing financial exposure and make efficiencies.
  • Ensure fast recovery of demurrage settlements from counterparts
  • Analyse data with a high level attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communicate with AGT Shipping Operations and Chartering teams to proactively avoid potential demurrage issues.
  • Keep proper record of cost and recovery claims as per AGT’s record keeping policy in a structured and organized way fully visible and easily accessible.

 

Risk Management

  • Support the continuous improvement drive in AGT on systems, processes and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to AGT’s business processes, policies and procedures that apply to the Post Fixture Loss team, and ensure corporate business ethics and ADNOC Global Trading’s Code of Conduct are followed at all times

 

Reporting

  • Provide and present demurrage reports and budgets to the Manager of the Post Fixture Loss team, Head of Operations and others as required
  • Monitor the daily timebar position and demurrage/ claims provisions report ensuring that all reports and system entries are up to date at all times.

  • Implement approved department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the department work programs in line with AGT and International standards

 

Performance Management

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the department in line with the AGT Performance framework.

 

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with relevant standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function

Reports

  • Provide inputs to prepare department progress reports for AGT Management

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Logistics, Maritime studies or Law.
  • Knowledge of Maritime Law or Contract Law is preferred but not essential.
  • Technical knowledge of vessels’ operation or previous experience on board a vessel is an added value.

 

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 2+ years work experience in the energy industry
  • Industry knowledge - specific experience with/understanding of key drivers, economics, and management practices of integrated Oil supply chain
  • Commodities Trading knowledge - keeps up to date with international events and geo-political climate
  • Financial knowledge – understanding of financial planning and strategy, managing profitability, quality management, promoting process improvement, forecasting and developing budgets
